Finding Graphic Design Clients

Decide who you design for, where those clients look for designers, and how to become easy to find and easy to hire.

Planned

About this course

Clients don't arrive because you're good; they arrive because the right people know you exist and understand what you do for them. This course helps designers choose a client focus (by industry, project type or location), understand where those clients look for help, build a simple offer, and set up the channels that bring enquiries: referrals, local business networks, directories, agencies and your own site. It stops before individual outreach, which is covered in Client Research and Outreach.

Who it’s for: Graphic designers starting freelance work or looking for more consistent clients. A basic portfolio is assumed.

You will be able to

  • Choose a client focus and describe the client's typical problems
  • Write a clear service offer with three defined packages or starting points
  • Identify at least five channels where your clients look for designers
  • Set up a referral routine with past clients and peers

Studio project

A client acquisition plan with a defined focus, three service packages, a services page draft and an action plan across five channels.

To complete this course

  • Complete every required lesson.
  • Have the assignment “Client acquisition plan” accepted by an instructor.
  • Records of completion are issued only for courses whose content has passed instructor review.
