The school

Is Ricketts University an accredited university?

No. Ricketts University is an independent online arts education project. It is not an accredited institution, does not grant degrees or diplomas, and is not recognized by any government. Courses lead to participation and course-completion records only.

Why is it spelled “Skool”?

On purpose. The spelling is part of the identity and a reminder that this is an independent arts project, not a formal academic institution.

Who teaches the courses?

Courses are being written by the founder, Ellis Ricketts. If other instructors join, they'll be introduced on the site with their real backgrounds.

Where is the school based?

The school is online. The founder works in Toronto & Windsor, Ontario.

Courses & learning

Can I enrol in a course today?

Not yet. Every course in the catalogue is in development. You can create a student account now and enrol from your dashboard when a course opens.

I'm a complete beginner. Where do I start?

Start in Foundations of Art & Design with Seeing & Drawing (FND 101). Foundation-level courses assume no experience.

Are courses live or self-paced?

Self-paced, with suggested deadlines for assignments so you keep momentum. Any live sessions in future will be announced in advance.

What do I get when I finish a course?

A Record of Completion, which records that you completed the course's lessons and studio project. It is not a degree, diploma or accredited credential.

Cost & accounts

How much does it cost?

Pricing hasn't been decided. It will be published on the Tuition & Memberships page before any course opens for enrolment, and nobody will be charged without clearly agreeing to a price first.

What happens to my work and data?

Your work belongs to you. Portfolio pieces are private by default, and the school never uses student work in promotion without written permission. The draft Privacy Policy explains what is stored and how to delete it.
